ANDREA N. PLUSKOTA, MS, CCC/SLP

I am a knowledge-seeker. My inquisitive nature forces me to challenge myself to think critically about the premises that guide my beliefs, values, and practices. Consequently, an intense love of learning forces me to consume knowledge, challenge the status-quo, and prepare to contribute the knowledge-base of underexplored cultural and linguistic phenomena. I experience nirvana- inducing joy when seeking knowledge for the purpose of critiquing, refuting, expanding, and utilizing ideas that have been previously explored by my constituents.
As a doctoral student, I have undertaken in depth study of principles of language development and disorders, language teaching and testing, educational reform, and multiculturalism. I have participated in a number of continuing education courses, self-directed studies, and scholarly activities in areas including, but not limited to: augmentative and alternative communication, graduate clinician supervision and cultural competence, literacy and behavioral interventions, English language development and acquisition, accent modification, foreign language and cultural studies, and autism spectrum disorders. These areas have greatly impacted clients on my past and current caseloads, and I am encouraged that as a future academic, I may continue to shape the influence of colleagues and ultimately, positively influence patient outcomes.
